HealthgamerGG guide to coping with issues
He describes three ways of coping with issues
- emotional cope
- dealing with the emotion without tracking the problem
- e.g. procastinating by doomscrolling instead of facing the issue
- standard cope
- acting on the problem, even if futile, is better than doing nothing
- cognitive reframe cope (or being ok with doing nothing)
- changing the way you think about things
- eg: going to a break-up, realize that it ended because it needed and you learned from the experience, and is better now
How to do cognitive cope by yourself?
- draw three columns
- write down the issue on first
- on secod: ask yourself: if you where a “better person”, what would they do in this situation? write possible solutions (even if not feasible for you)
- third collumn: for each possible solution, while thinking on the above, what do you feel?
- between the hard feelings, for each one of them, write a justification on why you can/cant do that solution. Then, from the solutions in collum 2, after thinking thorugh justifications in collumn 3, select the best solution from collumn 2.
